Willow Park Plan

The Northfield Park District was recently awarded an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help fund improvements to Willow Park. This grant of $405,300 will fund 50% of the proposed project that includes trail extensions, an additional bridge crossing, a river overlook, bird habitats, interpretive gardens, a wooden split-rail fence, landscape enhancements, a picnic shelter, disc golf, a gaga ball pit, batting cage improvements, and replacement of outdoor fitness stations. This Phase 1 Plan is part of a greater Willow Park Master Plan that is still being developed (see links to plans below).

During the planning process, there was consideration of adding a fence to enclose the current off leash dog area in the north end of Willow Park, but that concept was removed from the Phase 1 Plan to allow time for further discussion. The Park District welcomes any feedback you might have and encourages you to utilize the online Contact Form by selecting the option "Willow Park Master Plan" in the Top drop-down list.
